Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Canine Performance Tracker mobile app, together with the canineperformancetracker.com website and any related services operated by BDK Development Co (collectively, the "Application"). BDK Development Co is hereby referred to as the "Service Provider".
Information Collection and Use
The mobile app collects the following information when you download and use it. Information the website collects is described separately under The Website.
Information you provide
- Your email address, and the account identifier issued when you create an account
- The records you enter: your dogs, trials, runs, registrations, judges and related notes
- Photos, videos and documents you choose to upload, including score sheets you submit for import
Information collected automatically
- Your device's Internet Protocol address
- The pages of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages
- The time spent on the Application
- The operating system you use
- Diagnostic and error reports, which include your account identifier so a fault can be traced to the account that experienced it. These reports do not include the contents of your records.
If you sign in using Google or Apple, that provider confirms your identity to the Service Provider and shares the account details you approve. The Service Provider does not receive your password.
The Website
The Service Provider's website, canineperformancetracker.com, collects information separately from the Application:
- If you join the waitlist, your email address and whether you asked for beta access or product updates. This is stored by the Service Provider and used to send you a confirmation email and, later, the updates you asked for.
- Standard request telemetry — IP address, the pages requested, and timing — used to keep the site running and diagnose faults.
The website does not set advertising or analytics cookies.
Legal Basis for Processing
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or similar law applies, the Service Provider relies on the following bases:
- Performance of a contract — creating and maintaining your account, and storing and syncing the records you enter, so that the Application can do what you are asking it to do
- Legitimate interests — diagnostic and error reporting, security, and preventing abuse, so that faults can be found and fixed
- Consent — waitlist and marketing emails, and any non-essential tracking technology. You may withdraw consent at any time
- Legal obligation — where retention or disclosure is required by law
Cookies and tracking technologies
The Application or its third-party SDKs may use cookies, SDKs, pixels, and similar technologies to support functionality, analytics, or service delivery. Where required by applicable law, the Service Provider will obtain consent before using non-essential tracking technologies.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data held by the Service Provider. To exercise these rights, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, contact the Service Provider at contact@canineperformancetracker.com. To delete your account and the data associated with it, see Deleting your account.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority. You may do so without contacting the Service Provider first, though the Service Provider would prefer the chance to put the matter right.
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. To exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, contact the Service Provider at contact@canineperformancetracker.com.
Artificial Intelligence
The Application uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) in one feature: Import Runs from PDF, which reads a score sheet you upload and proposes run records for you to review.
When you use that feature, the document you uploaded is processed by Microsoft Azure Document Intelligence to extract its text and layout, and that extracted text is then sent to Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to identify the individual runs it describes. Both services run under the Service Provider's Azure account. The result is a set of suggestions: nothing is saved to your records until you review and confirm them.
If your score sheet contains other people's information — competitor names, for example — that information is processed as part of the document. Only upload documents you are entitled to.
The Service Provider does not use your data to train AI models, and does not use AI to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. No other feature of the Application uses AI.
If you have questions about the AI features or data processing, please contact the Service Provider.
The Service Provider may use the information you provide to send important information, required notices, and, where permitted by law, marketing communications.
For a better experience while using the Application, the Service Provider may require you to provide certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to email, userId. The information the Service Provider requests will be retained and used as described in this privacy policy.
Sharing Your Information
The Service Provider uses third-party service providers to operate the Application. Personal data — not only aggregated or anonymized data — is transmitted to those providers where it is necessary for them to perform their function. They act on the Service Provider's instructions and are not permitted to use the data for their own purposes.
The Service Provider does not sell your personal data, and does not share it for advertising or cross-context behavioural advertising.
The providers used, and what each one receives, are listed under Third-Party Service Providers below.
Third-Party Service Providers
The Application uses the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- Microsoft Azure — the Service Provider's infrastructure. Specifically: Microsoft Entra External ID handles account creation and sign-in; Azure Database for PostgreSQL stores your records; Azure Blob Storage stores the photos, videos and documents you upload; Azure Document Intelligence and Azure OpenAI Service perform the PDF import described above; Azure Communication Services sends transactional email; and Azure Application Insights collects website request telemetry.
- Sentry — receives diagnostic logs and error reports from the Application, including your account identifier.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Apple — only if you choose to sign in with Apple.
The Application is built with the Expo toolchain, which is used to compile and package the app. It does not receive your data at runtime.
International Data Transfers
The Service Provider or its third-party service providers may transfer personal data to countries outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, the Service Provider will use appropriate mechanisms.
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
- Adequacy decisions or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms
- Your consent, where required and legally permitted
Data protection laws in other countries may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required by law, the Service Provider will apply appropriate safeguards and obtain any consent required for the transfer.
Disclosure
The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
- when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
- with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information the Service Provider discloses to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop further collection of information from your mobile device by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling will stop the app from collecting data from your device, but it does not automatically delete information that has already been transmitted to the Service Provider or to third parties.
To delete your account and the data held with it, see Deleting your account. To withdraw consent, or to exercise any of your other rights, contact the Service Provider at contact@canineperformancetracker.com.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider retains personal data based on its necessity for the stated purposes:
- User Provided Data: Retained for the duration of your use of the Application plus 12 months thereafter, unless longer retention is required by law
- Automatically Collected Data: Retained for up to 24 months from collection, unless longer retention is required for legal compliance
- Aggregated and Anonymized Data: Retained indefinitely as it no longer identifies you
- Data required for legal compliance: Retained as long as required by applicable law
You may delete your personal data at any time, subject to any legal obligation to retain it. The Application provides this directly, at Settings → Account → Delete Account: it deletes your records, your uploaded media and your sign-in account, it is irreversible, and it does not require you to contact the Service Provider. If you no longer have the Application installed, see Deleting your account for how to request the same deletion by email.
Deleted data is removed from live storage immediately. Copies held in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days, after which no copy remains. Your sign-in account is deleted permanently rather than retained in a recoverable state, so the email address may be used to register again straight away.
The retention periods above describe data held during and after ordinary use of the Application. They are outer limits, not a minimum: deleting your account removes the data ahead of them. Please note that some User Provided Data may be required for the Application to function properly.
Children
The Application is not intended for children under 16 years of age, or such higher age as required by applicable law. The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit data from children or market the Application to them.
Where parental or guardian consent is required under applicable law, the Application is not intended for use without that consent. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 16 years of age in violation of applicable law. In the event the Service Provider discovers that a child has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided the Service Provider with personal information, please contact the Service Provider (contact@canineperformancetracker.com) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains.
Data Breach Notification
If a data breach occurs that affects your personal data, the Service Provider will notify you in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including, where required, providing information about the nature of the breach and the steps being taken to address it.
Changes
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy with an effective date. Where required by law, the Service Provider will seek your consent to material changes before they take effect.
Previous versions of this Privacy Policy will be maintained and made available upon request by contacting the Service Provider at contact@canineperformancetracker.com.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-08-06.
Your Consent
Where processing is based on consent, you provide that consent by affirmatively opting in to the relevant feature or action. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. Processing based on other lawful bases is carried out as described above.
